Dat de biochemie in brede zin de basis vormt voor de ontwikkelingen in de biotechnologie en de ‘genetische modificaties’ is evident. Het domein is echter zeer breed op theoretisch en technisch vlak waardoor specialisatie noodzakelijk wordt.
