It explains why global connections are at the heart of Latin America‘s history and shows how, in turn, Latin Americans themselves have shaped – and questioned – globalization throughout the last two centuries. Addressing chronological and structural issues, we will cover topics such as: economic globalization; Latin America’s transnational/social relations with the world, including migration and tourism; its cultural and its media history; its troubled political past made up of civil wars, revolutions, foreign interventions, dictators and democracy; urbanization, poverty, and development policy; the global drug trade and anti-narcotics policies. Finally, the course will also cover more practical questions such as how to improve your presentation and writing skills as well as your time-management.
