The six-year program was continued until the department connected to Faculty of Engineering according to new regulations in universities in 1973. At the start, because of the educational applications for mineral research and evaluation, the (Mining) and Hydrogeology words in diplomas of Geological Engineering (Hydrogeology) were taken out according to the new regulations implemented in education program in 1997. In the following years, graduation was stated as “Geological Engineering Program” and “Hydrogeological Engineering Program”.
Postgraduate programs of Hacettepe University Department of Mining Engineering started in 1978. Master of Science program is carried out on both mining and mineral processing divisions of mining engineering.
